Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)

The Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) lets skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, live and work in Australia permanently.

Basic requirements:

  • Have the necessary skills for the job
  • To be nominated by an Australian employer
  • Meet the health requirement
  • Meet the Character requirement

There are 3 different streams for this visa:

  • Direct Entry stream
  • Labour agreement stream
  • Temporary Residence Transition stream

Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482)

This visa allows employers to fill in positions they need due to skills shortages temporarily

Basic requirements:

  • Be nominated for a skilled position by an approved sponsor
  • Have the right skills to do the job
  • Meet the relevant English language requirements

There are 4 different streams for this visa:

  • Short-term stream
  • Medium-term stream
  • Labour agreement stream
  • Subsequent entrant

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494)

This visa enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages within their region by sponsoring skilled workers where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker

Basic requirements:

  • Be nominated by an approved work sponsor
  • Have an occupation on a relevant skilled occupation list
  • Have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation
  • Be under 45 years of age
  • Meet minimum standards of English language proficiency

  • Employer-Sponsored stream
  • Labour Agreement stream
  • Subsequent entrant
