The Australian government has created a family visa to allow Australians and permanent residents to unite with their spouses, children and parents who reside overseas.
Carer visa – Subclass 836
This visa option lets you stay in Australia and care for a relative who suffer from a long-term medical condition.
Requirements:
- Be a carer for your relative or a family member
- Hold or have held a substantive visa
- Meet the health requirement
- Meet the character requirement
- Have no debt to the Australian government
- Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused
- Sign the Australian values statement
- Best interests of the child
Child visa – Subclass 101
This visa lets a child overseas come to Australia, reunite with their family, and live in Australia.
Requirements:
- Be dependent on their parent who is an Australian citizen, eligible New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent visa holder
- Must be sponsored by an eligible parent
- Meet age requirements:
- under 18 years old, or
- over 18 and under 25 years and studying full time, or
- over 18 years with a disability
- Have no partner
- Meet health requirement
- Meet character requirement
- Have no debt to the Australian government
- Sign the Australian values statement
- Have consent to migrate to Australia
- Best interests of the child
